How does a WiFi QR code work?
The QR code stores your network name, password and security type in a standard format. When a phone scans it, the operating system offers to join that network automatically, with no typing.
Is it safe to put my WiFi password in a QR code?
The QR code is generated entirely in your browser, so your password is never sent to our servers. Keep in mind that anyone who can see the printed code can join the network, so place it where only your guests will see it, and use a separate guest network if you can.
Which phones can scan a WiFi QR code?
iPhones with iOS 11 or later and Android phones with Android 10 or later connect straight from the camera app. On older Android versions, the Google Lens app can read the code.
What happens if I change my WiFi password?
A static WiFi QR code stores the password inside the image, so you need to generate and print a new code after changing it. Choose WPA/WPA2 as the security type unless your router really uses WEP or an open network.
