Everything you need to know about WiFi QR codes
A WiFi QR code encodes your network credentials so that anyone with a smartphone can connect to your WiFi simply by scanning the code — no typing required. When scanned, the phone automatically prompts the user to join the network.
WiFi QR codes work on both Android and iOS (iPhone). On Android, the native camera app has supported WiFi QR scanning since Android 10. On iPhone, iOS 11 and later support it natively through the Camera app.
Your WiFi password is encoded directly into the QR code image and is never sent to any server. All processing happens locally in your browser, so your network credentials stay private.
WiFi QR codes support three security types: WPA/WPA2 (the most common, used by virtually all modern routers), WEP (older and less secure), and open networks with no password. If you’re not sure which one your router uses, choose WPA/WPA2.
For best results when printing, download the SVG version of your QR code. SVG is a vector format that scales perfectly to any size without losing quality — ideal for printing on signs, table cards, or posters.
